What Is It?

College life runs on hustle — grades, jobs, group chats, the pressure to always be “on.” This fall, Michigan United Methodist Campus Ministries invites you to step off the treadmill for a weekend and simply rest in God’s presence. Come as you are — tired, burned out, or just curious — for a weekend of community, worship, and space to breathe.

With a new grant from the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship, we are pleased to announce the formation of WORSHIP FELLOWS cohorts for students interested in growing in their capacity to preach well, make music and art for the benefit of the church and the world, and bake the bread and make the meals that bring faith communities together.

Apply for a cohort below. Monthly gatherings and conversations begin in October and continue through April 2027!

The Deliverance of Barker McRae

To top off our Summer Classes we’ll dive into a preview of the ZOE Book Club session on "The Deliverance of Barker McRae” by Stacia Pelletier. This historical novel follows a young girl as she navigates the violent gold rush frontier in 19th Century Georgia, looking for her Methodist circuit rider father.

We’ll follow along with a dicussion guide from our friends at ZOE On Campus as they launch their new network-wide book club.

Vacation Bible School

In July, we invite students and friends to join us in following Lindsey Kelley’s next installment of her “Vacation Bible School” - XOXO, PAUL!

In a surprising turn of events, the students in Lindsey’s campus ministry wanted to dive into the writings of Paul. So, she obliged.

We’ll follow along as Lindsey guides us through this essential New Testament reading, managing all of Paul’s best inspirational and confounding moments!

JOIN THE READING CLUB

We invite students and friends to join us in following Nathan Evans Fox as he explores the historic traditions of resistance, justice, organizing, and anti-racism born in communities across the southern United States.

Nathan is a singer/songwriter who sat down with our Motor City Hymns crew on Spring break, and talked openly about the struggle with the powers and principalities in the music industry and beyond.

If you love justice, don’t mind some cussin’ and want to make the world a better place, then follow along with us in Nathan’s reading club.

Each year, thousands of people gather together at the Christian Community Developer Association’s National Conference to be encouraged, equipped, and inspired for building communities of God’s justice, grace, and goodness. And we invite you to be a part of this!

Choose Your Own Adventure Young Adult Retreat, April 4-6, Lake Louise Camp and Retreat Center, no cost, funded by a grant from Foundation for Theological Exploration. For ages post high school 18 – 30. Participants are invited to come away from the daily grind and journey alongside others, meeting each other wherever are in our faith and spirituality. As a group & individuals, we’ll imagine and create a viable future that’s life giving and hope filled. Each day will provide a variety of offerings – participants will build their day based on learning style and interests. Single or shared sleeping rooms, communal spaces, outdoor activities, The design team is attentive to the diverse needs of participants including language, ability, socio-economic, orientation, gender, culture, and needs that will be self-identified by participants.

There is also a track for those in ministry with young adults. Also, no cost. Leaders who work with young adults? Retreat at beautiful Lake Louise, join with others who serve in this vital ministry, be supported and resourced by facilitators, peers, optional silent retreat, whatever you need for the your renewal and rest.
