We Are Not Alone by Jayvee Velazquez
An Unexpected Songwriter
What happens when you plan to go on Spring break to take pictures and post on Instagram, buy instead you accidentally become a key songwriter for the new ablum? Jayvee had just this kind of experience during our Motor City Hymns trip to Nashville.
When first invited on the excursion Jayvee quickly replied, “I don’t really sing.” But that couldn’t stop great music from happening. Over a few opening writing challenges and hanging with our crew of guitar players, lyricists, piano players, and even orchestral composers - Jayvee came up with the lyrics that would become “We Are Not Alone.”
This song explores questions of how to see God, and who is our neighbor. Nick, Aiden, and Seessa jumped in and added the rhythms and parts that Jayvee thought would best bring this song to life. Get the song demo and chord chart here.
