CONSIDER THIS:

As we approach Earth Day every year, it is good to remember our place in the goodness of Creation. From the earliest days Christians looked at the natural world to find signs of blessing and inspiration. Bees and beehives were part of these observations. Honey was a sign of sustenance in the Exodus story and monks in the early church saw the ordered life of bees as instructional for Christian communities.

DISCUSS:

  1. What do you think about bees? Do you love it when they attend your picnics? Are you a fiend for honey? Have you been stung too often by the little buggers?

  2. Proverbs 24:13 says, “Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.” What are the sweetest things in your life right now?

  3. From the insect to our favorite Queen Bey, Beyoncé, we learn the power of a strong female leader in organizing the world for sweetness and goodness. Who is a strong female leader that you recognize and honor?

  4. Some of our favorite honey comes from the good people at Detroit Hives. Let’s head over to their socials and give them a follow, like, or DM to let ‘em know how much they and their bees are appreciated!
